Event Updates

Update July 26, 2007

Registered Sailors: Check the “who’s coming” list to be sure you are on it, and that info is correct and check this link for updates. We’ve had some 4.7’s and radials default to full rig during editing of the database. Email if you want anything changed. Also, see cancellation policy below. You should cancel, even if it is Fri. morning. A string of DNC’s next to your name in the final results will definitely not make you any new friends!

The Waitlist: As of today we have 30+ on the waitlist. This does not include the 7 who have gotten in, due to cancellations. Be sure that the email that you sent to join the list has a fast way to reach you, including cell numbers, etc. When an opening occurs you presently have 24 hours to accept, or be passed over. As we get closer to race time, this time might reduce to 1 hour or so. Also, if you called to be added to the list, but didn’t follow up with an email with full contact info, it’s unlikely that you are on the list. It would be very helpful, and polite to your fellow sailors, if you ask us to remove you from the list, when your plans change as to make it impossible for you to race. You can email if you want to know your position on the list. The top 6 have been notified of their position.

Update July 12, 2007

The Nationals hit the 150 boat limit on July 9, and a waitlist has been started.

The Waitlist: As of the 12 th of July, we have 10 people on the waitlist, that we’ll be trying to fit in. Please email Al, stating basic info, including phone number, and please state the last day in which you can be notified and still make it here in time.

Cancellation policy – All cancellations will be refunded (and encouraged) as long as we know in time to get a waitlisted sailor into the Regatta. This might be as little as 1 day, as some are 3-4 hours away. Please let us know ASAP. The NA’s had a large number of paid/no shows, 6 in the Full rig fleet alone. This will be seriously discouraged, due to the fact that we have a large waitlist .

For those who might ask, the 86 Full rigs who registered for the Nationals are more than actually raced at the NA’s in Hyannis in June, and just about double the number that raced in last years Nationals, and/or the ’06 NA’s.

Power boats

Early Arrival Power Boat Launching –

If you have preregistered your coach/support boat
, Info packs will be available, see the Stewards. You may launch at our ramp, left of the hoist, then tie to either to the work dock, or the floating dock, as close to shore as you can. The deep ends of both docks are for loading/unloading of deep draft boats only. The Stewards may assign you to a mooring if the space is needed. Launch service is from 9AM-9PM, use Channel 12. There is a State Ramp with excellent temporary trailer parking 400 yards West of the club by car that we will use on Sunday night, so you might launch there to become familiar with it. It’s about 1.5 miles from the club by water (just keep turning right to return to the Club by water).

If you haven’t reregistered as a Coach/support Boat – Contact the stewards upon arrival. Moorings may be available, with launch service at $10./day. This is peak season however, so a reservation is highly suggested. The deep end of both docks is available for dropping off/or picking up only, and tying up is not allowed at any time.

Spectator Boats – We will have spectator boats available each day. Please inform us at Registration if you’d like a ride. Some will be larger comfortable sailboats. Viewing from shore isn’t recommended as the race area will often be more than a mile away, and possibly as far away as 3 miles.

Update, July 1, 2007

Coach Boat Charter Available – One of our local racer/coaches will not be using his boat since he will be sailing and his boat is available for charter. It’s a 13’8” Zodiak, set up and ready to go. He has just graduated from college, and is starting an Olympic campaign, so you’ll be helping each other out, plus he’s a great guy to deal with. Contact alrussellvt@yahoo.com, and I’ll connect you.

Bemis, Smythe, Sears (etc.) racers – We are aware of the conflict with the Finals. Please sign up for the Laser Nationals now to save a place, and we will offer a full refund to those who qualify for their Cup Finals, and are thus conflicted out. Please request this as soon as you know, so that a wait-listed sailor can be notified, and hopefully fill the spot.

Early Arrivals Info – Please feel free to arrive early, and use our beach for launching to practice. I’ll try to have preliminary info packs available, check with the Launch Stewards for them. Parking is not an issue before Thursday night (see below), and the info pack will have info on trailer storage and the offsite parking options. Our local Laser racing is Tuesday night from 6-8 PM, and we’ll make the line as big as needed! So, just set up near the lasers on the lawn and enjoy yourself, but leave some room for swimmers and our Junior program to use the same beach.

Registration – We’ll set up at 11, on Thursday, stay until 9:30-10, and then be set up Friday morning early, and until race time. You will have to complete Registration then, even if you have the preliminary package. If you are delayed Fri. morning with a flat tire or whatever, see the Phone numbers below. Registered Coach boats will be assigned a dock or mooring space at this time.

Thursday Night parking – The Club’s weeknight race is Thursday and will fill the parking lot by 5, just when late arrivals are trying to unload etc. Early arrivals should be prepared to use offsite parking by no later than Noon on Thursday. We will keep a Circle open for unloading only.

Thursday Night Barbeque – Our Weeknight PHRF race is followed by a Barbeque, starting at 7:30. If you are arriving then, or finishing a practice session, stop by for dinner, and to socialize. It’s a simple Burgers/dogs/salad meal for 5 bucks.

Phone Numbers – please note email is preferred, but you may use these for last minute info.
