Chartering - What to Expect
We want to make it as easy as possible for you to attend the 2009 Lightning
World Championships. We have a number of boats available for charter.
Here is a list of some important information that you need to know:
- You need to be registered for the event in order to charter a boat.
- Each boat will be delivered to the club and ready to go through the
measurement process.
- Sails are not included in the charter. You will need to bring your own
sails.
- The charter boat will have all the ILCA
required safety gear on the boat, except for PFD's. You will need to bring your own PFD
(Life Jackets).
- There are three required fees.
1) The boat charter fee which
will vary depending on the age and condition of the boat. 2) Insurance fee of $150. This
covers the charter boat in case of major damage. 3) The damage deposit of $500.
This is refundable if there is no damage.
- The boat charter fee and insurance fee must be paid to reserve the boat.
You can pay with paypal or a credit card through the website. If you would
prefer to send a wire transfer, contact us and we will provide you with the
routing numbers.
- The damage deposit will be collected at the regatta prior to measurement
and you may pay with cash or credit card.
- You will be required to maintain the $500 damage deposit throughout the
regatta. If you are involved in a collision or break a piece of equipment
on the boat, you will be assessed a fee at the end of that day (up to $250 per
incident) and you will be required to pay the additional damage deposit before
the next day of racing.
- We will have a team of people who will be inspecting all the charter
boats for damage before the regatta and every day during the event. Any
damage will be photographed and recorded.
- At the end of the regatta you will need to pack the boat up before your
damage deposit is refunded.
- We are doing our best to insure that all the boats offered for
charter are "race-ready." The older boats listed are all raced
actively and have been updated over the years. The quality and age
of the boat is reflected in the price of the charter, but even the
older boats are good boats.
