Qualifying for the Worlds

Please read this and do not register unless your name is on the list below:

Here is the qualifying formula:
North America gets 20 slots
South America gets 17 slots
Europe gets 17 slots
The host country gets 2 additional slots

There may also be 3 developmental slots. 

For the South America, the initial allocation is:
Argentina - 1 slots
Brazil - 5 slots
Chile - 3 slots
Columbia - 3 slots
Ecuador - 5 slots

For Europe, the initial allocation is:
Greece - 3 slots
Finland - 6 slots
Kimmo Aromaa - Registered
Italy - 1 slot
Switzerland - 3 slots
Nigeria - 4 slots

Of the North American slots, Canada gets two slots that will be filled based on the results of the 2008 Canadian Open.  The US gets the remaining 18 slots based on the order of finish from the 2008 North Americans in Newport, RI.

In addition there are 5 "courtesy slots" who may register at any time:

These slots cannot be "passed down" to other people.

If a country does not fill it's quota, those slots may be re-allocated to other countries that have filled their quotas.  First, they go to countries from the same area, then they go to the countries of another area that has already filled it's quota.  In the secondary allocation of slots, no country can have more then 50% of the competitors at the event.
