US Sailing Basic Race Management Seminar
Welcome!

Many of you remember when we raced our family cruisers around islands and government buoys, except for an occasional rock or two, without a great deal of problem. After the race we would share war stories over a couple of adult beverages, and head home and wait for a few days until the race was scored to find out who won.

Race Management was simple! A couple of flags, a stop watch, an air horn and a case of beer. The idea of anyone being over early was rare and besides, PHRF took care of the scoring and we all knew that the start of a 20 mile race was not that important.

Things have changed. One Design racing puts a whole different face on our sport. Starts are more competitive. Mark rounding have multiple boats being overlapped. Finishes are always close and we know when we or loose.

We have a strong Etchells fleet in Shelburne, Lightnings, J24' and Lasers in Malletts 'Bay and Solings in Plattsburgh. One Design racing is exciting, but it demands excellent race management. This seminar, offered by US Sailing, will take us the first step toward more rewarding racing.

I look forward to seeing you there!
